The National Security Agency has terminated its chief attorney following a report by the Daily Wire that brought attention to her prior work investigating President Donald Trump on behalf of the Democratic Party, along with her authorship of opinion pieces advocating for censorship and defending the intelligence community’s management of Trump associates, including Carter Page.
The National Security Agency has also taken down its webpage that listed April Doss as general counsel, and “multiple former officials” have confirmed to The New York Times that she has indeed been dismissed.
This action indicates that the Trump administration is responding to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s assertion that documents indicate a conspiracy involving “manufactured intelligence” aimed at discrediting the president. As part of this initiative, the administration seems determined to eliminate individuals associated with the discredited investigation from significant intelligence roles, as reported by the Daily Wire.
Senator Mark Warner (D-VA), who previously held the position of the leading Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, engaged Doss to assist in linking President Trump to Russia. Warner has vocally condemned her dismissal, emphasizing her close connections to Democratic leadership.
“We should be outraged by the termination of April Doss, a highly principled public servant, seemingly due to her involvement in the Senate Intelligence Committee’s bipartisan investigation into Russian election interference,” Warner stated, as reported by NBC.
“Her dismissal seems to stem from a politically motivated smear campaign orchestrated by a far-right conspiracy theorist, rather than any genuine concern regarding her conduct or qualifications,” he further remarked.

The apparent dismissal follows a report by the Daily Wire on July 23, which underscored a number of errors made by Doss, particularly her repeated demands for the security apparatus to address “misinformation” in cases where her assertions were subsequently disproven.
Among these missteps were her attempts to rationalize crackdowns on vaccine skepticism and her claim that Republican “extremists” orchestrated the plot to abduct Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. The report indicated that evidence implies federal agents may have been involved in entrapping the suspects.
Doss, who served under President Trump until this week, inaccurately accused him of instigating an “insurrection,” despite the absence of any charges related to that specific allegation. She also characterized the January 6 protest as “deadly,” reiterating discredited assertions that protesters were responsible for the deaths of police officers. Furthermore, Doss supported the government’s management of Page and Michael Flynn, both of whom were pivotal figures in the contentious Trump-Russia investigation.
The Daily Wire further elaborated:
Doss’s vigorous support for government and tech company censorship placed her in conflict with key policy positions of the Trump administration. The Trump administration’s Federal Trade Commission has actively pursued investigations into advertising firms for their involvement in censoring what has been labeled disinformation, including the New York Post’s accurate reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop.
The article also detailed how NSA officials kept Doss’s hiring in 2022 from Congress, as officials and Democrats had obstructed the appointment of a Republican with a similar profile to the same general counsel position during Trump’s first term, deeming it overly political — a decision they recognized would expose them to accusations of double standards if Doss’s hiring became public.
Similar to the discredited investigation into Russia, the media and Democrats swiftly collaborated to disseminate misinformation following the dismissal of Doss.
Warner stated that Doss “seemed to” have been terminated due to Laura Loomer, after the Times employed the sub-headline “a far-right conspiracy theorist had amplified criticism of the lawyer and her previous work.”
A significant portion of the article’s narrative concentrated on the fact that Laura Loomer had posted on X a summary of The Daily Wire’s report, while largely overlooking the actual findings of the report—except for mentioning that Doss had previously been employed by Democratic lawmakers.
While the Times’ choice to emphasize a literal retweet rather than the substantive story was peculiar, much of the left-leaning establishment media promptly embraced it without modification.
MSNBC published a headline proclaiming “Right-wing influencer allegedly helps oust a National Security Agency leader (again).” Another from the Daily Beast read, “Witch Hunter Laura Loomer Claims Scalp of NSA’s Top Lawyer.”
